AP Physics 1 Past Exam Questions

AP Physics 1 Past Exam Questions

  • Below are videos from the AP which review some problems from past AP Physics 1 tests.  Although these will not have the same mathematical level of an AP Physics C test, the methods used to answer the questions are very instructive given the different nature of this year's AP Physics C test.  Highly recommended!
  • The 2019 Exam — Problem 1, v-t Graph of the Center of Mass

  • The 2019 AP Physics 1 Exam - Problem 2, QQT - Modified Atwood's  Machine
    • This teacher is a long time AP grader so he really does a thorough job of explaining how these kinds of questions will be graded by the AP and therefore how you should answer them.
  • The 2019 AP Physics 1 Exam - Problem 3, Experiment - Spring Constant of a Projectile Launcher
    • While it is mentioned several times during this video that Experimental Design is not on this year's AP Physics 1 test, it IS one of the possibles on this year's AP C Mechanics test.
    • A thorough review of multiple techniques to experimentally measure the speed of a launched ball.
    • It would be more AP C to write the equation as
    v^2 = (k/m)x
where you would graph v^2 vs. x and (k/m) would be the slope of the line of best fit with a constant mass.
  • The 2018 AP Physics 1 Exam - Problem 3, QQT - Variable Frictional Torque
    • Nicely linked to an actual "live" experiment.  Also, a lot of useful discussion on how these questions will be graded and therefore how you should answer them.
  • The 2017 AP Physics 1 Exam - Problem 2, Experiment - Static Friction Coefficient
    • Another problem with a good explanation of how to write an experimental procedure.
  • The 2017 AP Physics 1 Exam - Problem 3, QQT - Disk Collides with Rod
    • A good rotation problem.
  • The 2017 AP Physics 1 Exam - Problem 4, Ball Sliding on Two Differently Shaped Ramps
    • A combination of energy and projectile motion.
