Algebra Accelerator Course

This course is designed as a tool to help you achieve success in Algebra.  This class will consist of past, present, and future Algebra concepts.  It will provide you with remediation and review of difficult concepts, one on one help with your Algebra teacher, and a sneak peek into upcoming topics.

Materials

Composition Book
Scissors
Glue Sticks
Pencils and/or Pens
Calculator (Scientific or Graphing: TI-83+ or TI-84+ is recommended but not required)

Grading

The goal of this course is to ensure that you are successful by achieving a C or higher in your Algebra 1 course.  The Algebra Accelerator course will be graded on a Pass/Fail basis. Students with a passing grade will receive a general elective credit towards graduation requirements.

Participation Points

Students will be given points for having materials, being on task, and working hard.  You may lose a portion or all of the daily participation points for disruptions, not completing assignments, not following directions and other non-productive behavior.  Once you finish the math assignment, it is up to you to have additional work to keep you on task.  If you do not have other class work, then I will provide additional math practice.  Students who are a behavior issue will receive lunch detentions or referrals. Parent conferences or phone calls will be made if necessary.

Accountability Commitment Sheets

They will be completed by students on a chapter/unit basis.  These sheets will allow students and parents to monitor the student’s progress and reflect on the student’s learning skills.  Accountability sheets should be mounted in the Algebra notebook after they are recorded by the teacher.
